Azman holds a Diploma in Software Engineering (Malaysia), a Degree in Computer Systems Engineering (UK) and a Master Degree in Computer Science. Azman joined Infolab21 at Lancaster University in 2010 during which he was part of Resilience and Security Research Group. He has co-authored several papers on Network Resilience, Policy-Based Management and Intelligent Systems and has presented his works across Europe. His area of research aims to solve protect Internet Critical Infrastructure against various challenges, leveraging on an evolving Machine Learning Technique. Having completed his thesis in Autonomic Resilience Strategy he is currently preparing for his PhD viva examination.
Azman has more than 16 years of experience in Telco environment. He began his career in 1999 as a network and security engineer for the Internet Service Provider (ISP) division and has been responsible in Network Planning, Development and Operation of the ISP Network and Datacenter Infrastructure. Being part of the pioneering generation that helped building Malaysian Internet Infrastructure in 1999 he was part of the technical steering committee that established the first Malaysian Internet Exchange (IX). Azman was also involved in several Datacenters and Infrastructure Development projects before pursuing his 4 years Research on Network Resilience and Security in the UK. Upon his return, he joined Telekom Malaysia’s Consultancy and Solution Management Unit, handling key Enterprise account that provide solution for Energy, Transportation, Environmental, as well as Water and Waste Management. Azman and his team is currently engaging in several utility related initiatives within the countries which include Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), Smart Energy Grid as well as ICT transformation in general. Apart from the utility sector, he has also worked with property developer in planning telecommunication infrastructure for green field area that include fiberization and service infrastructure development that will support their smart services infrastructure.
Having some knowledge in Network Resilience, Security, Intelligent Systems and Policy-based Management, Azman is interested in the application of the knowledge into critical infrastructure management such as SCADA systems, Industrial Control Systems and City Management in general. He is continuously expanding his knowledge and skills in Big Data Analytic, Internet of Things (IoT) and Smart Services Technology that will help the realization of the above to improve quality of life. Not limited to technology, he is also interested in the human aspect such as social, psychological, policies, regulatory, governance, financial and other non-technical factors that are part of ecosystems.
