The “Smart City” concept was first used in 1994 and throughout the years many definitions have try to describe it, but there has not been one that is universally recognized. Nevertheless, its ubiquitous influence is represented in a diversity of ways in many cities. The evolution of the concept can be perceived in its implementation efforts; consequently, a comprehensive overview of practical cases could provide some clarity. In the newest issue of IGLUS Quarterly, a more critical view of the concept is presented through six articles focused on applied cases from around the globe.
